There is only one solution for fitting the pieces into the base. Several other figures can be used as objectives. This puzzle was originally made in the 1890's by the German firm Richter, known for their Anchor Stone Building Sets. The first in a series of eighteen was a Tangram set they called Der Kopfzerbrecher (the head cracker). This puzzle was called Kobold (goblin) and is one of the more difficult of the puzzles. These puzzles are very collectable today. The company ceased production in 1963, but was recently restarted and they are once again producing the build sets and the Tangram set. There are plans to produce others.
