Sphinx is an improved version of the Saturn puzzle. The Sphinx can be made in different woods like Jupiter, but this one is all one species, making an already difficult puzzle even more so. When stewart wrote The Puzzling World Of Polyhedral Dissections, he commented that he did not know if a scrambled version of the Jupiter puzzle with twelve dissimilar pieces and a single solution could be made. This is it.
The bottom two photographs are a Sphix made from 30 different exotic hardwoods by Bart Buie. The different woods make it fairly easy to assemble. Number 7 in Stewart's numbering system.
