The barrel contains two or three little dice and the objective is to remove them. The bung and spigot do nothing. One of the barrel bottoms is tapered and all that is required is to tap the barrel on a hard surface and it will fall out.
The 2nd and 3rd photographs show original Dice Boxes. The 4th photograph shows an opened original Dice Box and a Churn.
