This puzzle is based on the the repetitive pattern reminiscent of kitchen floor linoleum. The eighteen pieces comprise all of the possibilities of connecting four of the basic build blocks within the pattern. There are nine individual square pieces which are normally omitted when attempting to solve the puzzle. It is difficult to find any solution that fills the space, but more challenging is to find a solution where the nine empty squares are symmetrical. Of the thirty-nine possibilities, thirty-seven have solutions.
