Opening the top compartment is very easy. It is not obvious that there is an additional compartment. Getting to it quite a bit more complicated than Byway Secret 1. There are yosegi panels on either both inside ends of the first compartment. They have sliding parts like those on the outside of a typical Japanese trick opening box that must be slid back and forth in the correct sequence to gain access to the second compartment.
